Exploratory Data Analysis

Directions

Today we will demonstrate our understanding of exploratory data analysis using a dataset of crawdads measured in Grinnell, IA. In particular, we are interested in providing descriptive statistics that describe:

1. Any associations between the physical characteristics (sex, weight, length) of crawdads
2. Any associations relating physical characteristics to the presence of injuries

The choice of variables to include is entirely up to you. You are welcome to explore the data as much as you wish, but your final report should only include the code and output that is relevant to your analysis.

A successful report will include the following:

• Provide an overview of the dataset such as the number of variables and observations
• Include at least one table along with a relevant statistic to measure association between categorical variables
• At least one grouped numerical summary using dplyr
• Two plots illustrating the relationship between variables you’ve chosen
• Plots should have appropriate labels for the axes and an appropriate title.
• A few sentences (2-3) describing any tables or figures
• With all plots, tables, and written sentences, the final document shouldn’t exceed two pages (but it can be fewer)
• Don’t forget to add your name at the top

Once you are finished, Knit the document to a PDF and assess whether or not it looks and reads like something you would feel comfortable sending to a professional collaborator. Once you are satisfied with your document, submit it to Gradescope.
